As the Director of Public Prosecutions for Ireland I am very pleased to be hosting the 21st Annual Conference & General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors in Dublin from 11 to 15 September 2016.
The theme of the conference is ‘The Prosecutor and the Investigator’. This is a topic that is of great importance to prosecutors around the globe. The conference will provide an opportunity to examine the relationships between prosecutors and investigators in different jurisdictions; to look at the governance issues that arise in the prosecution and investigation of crime; and to learn about best case management practice from investigation to conclusion of a criminal trial.
The conference theme has attracted speakers with wide and diverse expertise in specialised areas of criminal law from around the world. The conference will provide the opportunity for them to share their experiences and for delegates to discuss international approaches to the investigation and prosecution of crime.
Dublin is one of Europe’s oldest cities – steeped in history and culture. We have planned a varied conference social programme which we think delegates will enjoy. The programme has been designed so that both delegates and accompanying persons can experience Irish hospitality and culture at its very best.
I look forward to welcoming IAP delegates to Dublin.
